Clicky Click

Today's meal. Doesn't it look delicious!! Hmm.. It wasn't very.
Pasta, potatoes, carrots, spring onions, pickled olives and capsicum. In spite of all the stuff that went in there was something missing in it.
Am very happy with the photo though!

Leftoverstuff Day

Sometimes in every solo-cook's life there comes a moment of great pain: dealing with old stuff that has just got to go, even though we have grown to love them. And that is why almost once in ten days we celebrate (or observe?) leftoverstuff day.

Today's meal: Left over broccoli, left over curry paste, soon to be over carrots and rice, and long pending moong dal, a lot of which is still on my shelf. Just tossed all this stuff into the cooker with carefree abandon and (very) surprisingly it came out good.

Some more signs of spring: some violet flowers on a lawn. These are supposed to bloom and then die in a month. I will surely be sad to see them go, because they are one of the most delicious sights I have ever seen. Will venture out with the camera to get that tomorrow.

Fresh Start

Last night I had the worst dinner ever. I decided that it was time to get back to looking at life through the eyes of the solo-cook. I have a very bad record with projects like these, I find it very easy to quit.

Tonight's treat: Chapatis with carrot and broccoli fried. We saw the last of our 'sabji masala' today and we are very sorry to see it go. It made food so much better.

The weather is getting back to looking warm and interesting. I was woken up this morning by some large wood pigeons flapping against my window. They even posed for a couple of shots. Find them on my photo blog.
See you tomorrow!

Chief ingredient

Today's meal:

Semiya upma with tomato ketchup.

The chief ingredient that should be well stocked in the solo-cook's fridge, cupboard and kitchen shelves : discipline.
It takes an adventurous and fearless person to invent stuff and try things out. But all this without the chief ingredient will surely end in some kind of disaster for sure.
The last few weeks when I have not posted here were filled with adventure and fearlessness but no discipline.
